Bubble Architects have secured a Planning Approval for 5 high quality family dwellings on a backland site in South Wimbledon. The existing detached  house will be replaced with 5 contemporary mews type houses with  four no. 4 bedroom houses arranged in a stepped terrace and one 4-bedroom detached house, known as `The Gatehouse’. The facades of the houses have been carefully designed to maximize daylight into the houses as well as articulating the individual houses within the terrace. Along the boundary lines, the volumes step down to minimize the impact on the surrounding properties. The external facades are clad with white/yellow multi brick and cast stone to express individual components within the forms. Landscaping will include espalier apple trees along the gatehouse flank walls. Car park and cycle spaces are located to the front of each house. The existing access road remains and will be refurbished with a new surface and soft landscaping. The development will be sustainable throughout the building’s life cycle.
